Welcome to ULAG
The Upper Limb Assessment Group, or ULAG, is interested in FES of the upper limbs. One challenge in FES research and clinical practice is how to measure changes after or during the use of FES applied to the arms/hands. The goal of ULAG is to recommend upper limb assessments for the FES field. It is not the intent of ULAG to make any of these measures a requirement for research or clinical practice.
Recent activities:
After many years of meetings and much effort, ULAG has developed a list of recommended measures to be used for upper limb assessment. Information on the recommend measures is provided in the table below. Measures were chosen based on availability of published psychometric data (reliability and validity) and commonality of use. Included in the table is a list of terms and their definititons common to assessment of function and a list of references. For interested parties with little experience in upper limb assessment, the table provides a useful starting point to identify appropriate measurement tools. For interested parties with more experience in upper limb assessment, the table provides a comparison of the most common measures. Additional information on each test can be found in the articles on the reference list.
